A very good friend of mine whom I hadn’t seen in a very long time asked, so Jessica, what is your new business all about ?

I answered : My business is an international coaching practice. I am a career coach and I help people, especially women in their mid-careers, rediscover meaning, purpose, and also fun in their professional lives. This transformation can be achieved by adding value to their current job, or by embarking on an entire new adventure like changing jobs, switching careers or by pursuing an independent path.

We (read: mid-career women) have been working hard for most of our lives, and we deserve professional roles that give us fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment. Also, by embracing career changes, perhaps looking into self-employment, we can not only enrich our own lives but also inspire others by sharing our wealth of knowledge.

I started this business for two main reasons. First, because I have many years of experience helping persons through emotionally complicated and multifaceted transitions like changing jobs while relocating to a different country at the same time. Such an insight must be shared, especially since there are so many people out there being unhappy and stuck in a job they do not want anymore. The second reason is that I found myself at a personal crossroads where I could not grow anymore in my job. Again, I felt that my experience could be in better use – to mentor and empower women and bring them reassurance and happiness as they navigate their second part of their careers. That is what my business is all about.
